<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />JUNE 5, 2006 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE COUNTY <br />SANITATION DISTRICT FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR 2005/2006 <br />COOPERATIV PROJECTS PROGRAM <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with the Orange County <br />Sanitation District for joint funding of sewer projects for an amount not <br />to exceed $969,900 under the Cooperative Projects Program. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) has implemented a <br />Cooperative Projects Program to assist cities with the repalr or <br />replacement of aging sewer collection system infrastructure. The program <br />provides matching funds for qualified projects. The primary objectives <br />of the program are to reduce inflow and infiltration into sewer mains and <br />to repair or replace deteriorated sewer infrastructure. <br /> <br />The City recently applied for and received approval from the OCSD for <br />$969,900 for construction of the Civic Center Drive Sewer Main <br />Improvements project. The construction contract for this project was <br />awarded to Dominguez General Engineering Contractor at the April 3, 2006 <br />City Council meeting. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 30, <br />2006. <br /> <br />Under the proposed Cooperative Projects Program agreement, the City will <br />provide up to $484,950 of funding and the OCSD will match this amount. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br /> <br />258-1 <br />
