Mayor Young: <br /> <br />acknowledged that although the State preempted the City with regard to firearms, he <br />requested staff meet with school district officials to establish an aggressive policy to <br />ban firearms near or around schools; <br /> <br />- requested staff clarify the use of blankets in the enforcement of the City's anti- <br /> camping ordinance; <br /> <br />- opined that a County solution was needed to solve the problem of homelessness; and <br /> <br />requested that the Council meeting be adjourned in honor of Kevin Burrell and James <br />MacDonald, the two reserve Compton Police Officers who were recently killed in the <br />line of duty. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - 9:10 P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced that the City Council was recessing to Closed Session <br />pursuant to: <br /> <br /> Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with the City Attorney regarding pending <br /> litigation which had been initiated formally into which the City was a party to wit: <br /> <br /> City of Santa Ana vs. Quality Suites, and pursuant to <br /> <br /> Government Code Section 54957.6 to meet with its designated representatives regarding <br /> labor relations matters <br /> <br />RECONVENED - COUNCIL CHAMBERS - 9:20 P.M. - Same Councilmembers present <br />except Councilmember Norton <br /> <br />70.A.
