REQUEST FOR ~_~~ <br />ea~yU Cl UfI I Sf <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />June 5, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT FOR THE ENGINEERING <br />AND INSTALLATION OF A FIRE <br />NOTIFICATION SYSTEM WITH <br />PYROCOMM, INC. <br />CITY ANAGER <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"`' Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Pyrocomm, Inc. for the <br />installation of a fire notification system at the Ross Annex for an amount <br />not to exceed $89,875. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Ross Annex Building is equipped with a silent fire alarm system. In <br />case of a fire, the system electronically notifies a remote third party <br />provider that in turn calls the Fire Department to dispatch personnel to <br />the Ross Annex. It is recommended that a building audio-visual alarm, <br />connected to the existing fire alarm system, be added in order to enhance <br />notification of employees and patrons. Pyrocomm Inc., who installed the <br />existing fire alarm system, is the sole source provider of the audio-visual <br />equipment that can interface with the existing fire alarm system. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the Non-Departmental Other Contractual Services <br />account (account no. 11-012-6291). <br /> <br />Francisco Gutierrez <br />Executive Director <br />Finance and Management Services Agency, <br />25H-1 <br />
