NO. 06-063) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />t2ft2 <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Freeway Electric for drainage system installation in <br />the amount not to exceed $27,335. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In order to enhance the visitor experience at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice <br />Park, a subsurface drainage system will be installed adjacent to the main <br />entrance. Due to a surface depression in this area, flooding occurs after <br />every rainfall, which results in the closure of the main entrance walkway <br />and concession area and prevents restroom access. The proposed drainage <br />system will remove excess water from the area and ensure full accessibility <br />to the facilities. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on April 26 and 28, 2006, and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />17 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />6 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />4 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on May 15, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). The <br />bid received from Freeway Electric is responsive to the specification and <br />meets the City's requirements.
