The <br />Planning Division is currently reviewing an overlay zone for Metro East <br />as well as development projects that will have long range architectural <br />and urban design impacts on the city. To enhance the streetscape and <br />public spaces, a public realm improvement plan will be developed. This <br />firm has expertise in developing such plans as well as a unique <br />understanding of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />An agreement was approved in March 2003 for $10,000 and amended in <br />November 2004 for an additional $50,000 for the contracted services of <br />Urban Studio. The contract was later extended to a time period through <br />December 2006. Approval of this amendment would increase the contract <br />amount by $16,000. Staff is recommending a sole source agreement with <br />Urban Studio due to the firm's technical expertise, ability to meet tight <br />deadlines and unique familiarity with the City. <br /> <br />Environmental Impact <br /> <br />The amendment of a contract for architectural and urban design services <br />and consultation is statutorily exempt from CEQA. <br /> <br />250-1 <br /> <br />
