FOR <br />NATIONAL POLLUTION DISCHARGE <br />ELIMINATION SYSTEM INSPECTION <br />SERVICES <br /> <br />J/ ~a, <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />JRECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute a second amendment to the agreement with <br />Geomatrix Consultants Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for a total contract <br />amount of $600,000 and extending the agreement for one year to provide <br />National Pollution Discharge Elimination System services. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency is responsible for the implementation of the <br />City's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater <br />permi t. In accordance with the City's permit requirements, all high <br />priority industrial sites need to be inspected annually, medium priority <br />industrial sites inspected semi-annually, and low priority commercial <br />sites inspected once every three years. Additionally, the City is <br />required to respond to any illegal discharges that emanate from private <br />property onto public property. <br /> <br />On July 18, 2005 City Council approved an amendment to a contract with <br />Geomatrix Consultants Inc. in the amount of $100,000 for a total contract <br />amount of $500,000 for inspection of commercial and industrial <br />facilities. A one-year extension is recommended and an additional <br />$100,000 in the contract amount is needed to complete these tasks in the <br />upcoming fiscal year. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br /> <br />25E-1 <br />
