REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 19, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT ACCEPTING <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE, FAMILY AND <br />CHILDREN TOGETHER FUNDS FOR THE <br />CORBIN FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^` As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $35,248 in County of <br />Orange, Family and Children Together funds in revenue account (account <br />no. 169-01-5361-700) and appropriating funds to the Families and <br />Communities Together program expenditure account (account no. 169-272- <br />various). <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Family and Children Together (FaCT) Program operates out of the <br />Corbin Family Resource Center and provides services promoting safe and <br />stable families to at-risk-youth and families with children ages birth <br />through 18 years. The Center has received FaCT funding from the County of <br />Orange since 1999. <br />The Corbin Family Resource Center received $225,000 in FY 2006-07 <br />funding. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency will receive <br />$35,248 of the total grant award to provide information and referral <br />services and childcare for clients attending programs at Corbin. Among <br />the partners participating with the Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Agency are: Children's Bureau of Southern California, Olive <br />Crest Treatment Centers, and Human Options. The funding will begin July <br />1, 2006, and allows for four additional one-year renewals. <br />20B-1 <br />
