REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 19, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR A PORTION <br />OF MACARTHUR FAIRVIEW PARK, LLC <br />PROPERTY AT 2961 MACARTHUR <br />(PROJECT 0 5 - ~.,7 0 7 ) _ <br />" CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with MacArthur Fairview Park, <br />LLC for the purchase of a portion of 2961 MacArthur Boulevard in the <br />amount of $63,970. <br />DISCIISSION <br />The proposed improvements to the Fairview Street and MacArthur Boulevard <br />intersection include the addition of right-turn-only lanes for the <br />southbound and eastbound approaches. These improvements are needed to <br />improve traffic flow through the intersection which currently is not <br />operating at an acceptable level of service. Construction is estimated to <br />begin in March of 2007. <br />To accommodate the widening, acquisition of a 1,166 square-foot of the <br />property located at 2961 MacArthur Boulevard is needed (Exhibit 1). A <br />3,661 square-foot temporary construction easement will also be required <br />from the owner. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, the proposed <br />project has been determined to be adequately evaluated in previously <br />prepared Negative Declaration No. 2002-440. <br />251-1 <br />
