<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 82-110 TO <br />EFFECT CERTAIN CHANGES TO THE CITY'S BASIC <br />CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN, AND <br />AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2001-065 TO PROVIDE FOR <br />CONTINUATION OF ADDITIONAL PARTIALLY-PAID <br />TEMPORARY MILITARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR CITY <br />EMPLOYEES CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY WITH THE ARMED <br />FORCES AND CONTINUATION OF BENEFITS FOR THEIR <br />DEPENDENTS <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. Section 1004, Article X of the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana <br />requires the City Manager to prepare, install, and maintain a position <br />classification and pay plan subject to civil service rules and regulations <br />and the approval of the City Council. <br /> <br />B. On August 2, 1982, the City Council passed and adopted Resolution No. <br />82-110 revising and re-establishing the Basic Classification and <br />Compensation Plan for officers and employees of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />C. The City of Santa Ana and the Santa Ana Fire Management Association <br />(FMA) have agreed and now wish to propose that the City provide a <br />special assignment pay for the classification Fire Battalion Chief when an <br />incumbent of said title is placed on temporary non-suppression duty <br />assignment. <br /> <br />D. On October 1, 2001, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana adopted <br />Resolution No. 2001-065 providing for an additional partially-paid military <br />leave of absence for each full-time officer or employee of the City who has <br />been or will be called to active military service with the Armed Forces of <br />the United States in connection with the current military crisis. This <br />Resolution has been extended each succeeding year since its initial <br />adoption in 2001. <br /> <br />E. The pay and benefits authorized by Resolution No. 2001-065, as <br />amended, will terminate on June 30, 2006, unless extended by further <br />action of the City Councilor otherwise required by law. <br /> <br />55A-3 <br />
