NS-2716 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTION 2-101 OF THE <br />SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO COUNCil <br />ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. Section 400 of the Santa Ana Charter sets the time for a council member's <br />term to commence fOllowing the certification of election results. <br /> <br />B. The City Council has proposed that the voters amend Section 400 of the <br />Santa Ana Charter to change the date of the first meeting of the newly elected <br />council to 6:00 pm on the second Tuesday in December, following <br />certification of election results. <br /> <br />C. Santa Ana Municipal Code section 2-101 conflicts with the proposed <br />amendment of Charter section 400 regarding the time for convening the <br />newly elected council. <br /> <br />Section 2. Santa Ana Municipal Code, Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-101 relating to <br />city council organization, is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />A. The newly elected council <br />shall proceed to organize, and the newly elected mayor shall immediately become the <br />presiding officer. The council shall thereafter elect a mayor pro tem. <br /> <br />In the absence of the mayor and the mayor pro tem the clerk of the council shall call the <br />council to order and call the roll of the members. If a quorum is found to be present, the <br />council shall, by majority vote of those present, elect a chairman of the meeting to act <br />during the meeting or until one of the regularly designated presiding officers shall appear. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. NS-2716 <br />Page 1012 <br />
