CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan requested staff pursue possible establishment of reduced trash <br />collection rates for low-income seniors, particularly mobile home residents. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson requested: <br /> <br />- recognition of Police Officer Steve Winston and the Santa Ana Kiwanis Club <br /> at a future Council meeting for outstanding contributions to youth safety; <br /> <br />- investigation of alternatives to the planned removal of the liquidambar <br /> trees along Tustin Avenue; <br /> <br />- review of street improvement notification procedures, particularly for <br /> timeliness and inclusion of starting dates; and <br /> <br />- staff costs in a typical code enforcement case taken to Small Claims Court. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Pulido: <br /> <br />- reinforced Councilmember Richardson's request concerning tree removal <br /> on Tustin Avenue; <br /> <br />- requested staff update the Council concerning the Sisters of St. Joseph's <br /> Taller San Jose project; and <br /> <br />- asked that Don Cribb be recognized at a future Council meeting for <br /> outstanding contributions to the arts and culture of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno inquired if the electrical wiring was being changed from two-phase <br />to three-phase at the new Corporate Yard, whether the reported change was addressed in the <br />original specifications, and if so, who was responsible for upgrade costs. Moreno also asked <br />why handicapped ramps were not installed on the northern side of a recent curb and gutter <br />improvement project at Linwood and Sixth Streets. Public Works Agency Executive <br />Director Jim Ross indicated he would investigate and report to Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Young indicated an excellent rapport had developed among City, Santa Aha Unified <br />School District, Rancho Santiago College District, and Orange County Congregation <br />Community Organization (OCCCO) representatives working together on a Youth Action <br />Plan. The Mayor provided the Council with a status report regarding the accomplishments <br />of the group on four major areas: School to Work, After School Activities, Family Support, <br />and Safety. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno volunteered to serve as the Council representative to OCCCO in <br />response to the Mayor's request for his replacement to insure continuity of Council <br />involvement with OCCCO. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 237 SEPTEMBER 6, 1994 <br /> <br /> <br />
