NO. 05-127) <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Amend the contract with Emergency Medical Equipment 1 LLC1 for the purchase <br />of defibrillators in the amount of $52/500 for a total amount not exceed <br />$57/600. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Fire Department 1 s Emergency Medical Services uses <br />defibrillators in the performance of its duties. To enhance the medical <br />readiness of the Santa Ana Fire Department 1 the Fire staff has placed Zoll <br />Automated External Defibrillators in all Fire buildings and vehicles. <br />These devices provide step-by-step Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and <br />feedback on compression rate and depth to help rescuers provide the best <br />manual CPR possible. <br /> <br />On February 211 20061 Council awarded a contract to Emergency Medical <br />Equipment 1 LLC 1 a Santa Ana vendor 1 for the purchase of Zoll Automated <br />External Defibrillators. The amendment will allow for the purchase of an <br />additional 31 units for placement in public areas of several City <br />facilities including the Main LibrarYI City Halll the Corporate Yardl the <br />Santa Ana ZOOI and various recreation centers.
