<br />Contract Amendment and Award for Body Armor Vests <br />August 21, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />In 2005, safety concerns were raised regarding the long-term viability of <br />vests made from Zylon. These concerns prompted the exchange of all Zylon <br />vests for vests made with Kevlar, resulting in an additional cost to the <br />City. Amending the contract will allow for payment of invoices and <br />uninterrupted service to the Police Department. <br /> <br />Galls, an ARAMARK Company, LLC, provides for the purchase of miscellaneous <br />supplies for the Police Department. The purchase of body armor vests, when <br />combined with previous purchases during the current fiscal year, exceeds <br />the $10,000 aggregate limit.
