Reject the bid from West Coast Equipment, Inc. as nonresponsive to the <br />specification. <br /> <br />2. Award a contract to American Rotary Broom Co, Inc for street sweeper <br />broom rewrap service for a one-year period, with provision for two, <br />one-year renewals in the annual amount not to exceed $165,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division of the Finance and Management Services <br />Agency is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 11 street sweepers <br />used by the Public Works Agency's Street Sweeper Division. The street <br />sweepers maintain over 60,000 miles of City streets annually. The brooms on <br />the sweepers require periodic rewrapping to maintain effectiveness. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on July 10 and 12, 2006, and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />3 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />. 3 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on July 26, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). <br />The bid received from West Coast Equipment, Inc. did not meet the cast <br />aluminum alloy broom core requirement and was therefore considered non- <br />responsive. The bid from American Rotary Broom Co., Inc. is responsive to <br />the specifications and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />22H-1 <br />
