<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />AUGUST 21, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD <br />COMPANY TO IMPROVE RAILROAD <br />CROSSING ON MAIN STREET <br />(PROJECT 1757) <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Company in the amount of $18,829 for a <br />total contract in the amount of $77,130 for improvements to the railroad <br />crossing on Main Street. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On October 12, 2005, the City entered into an agreement with UPRR to <br />replace the existing asphalt railroad crossing on Main Street north of <br />Goetz Street with a concrete panel crossing in coordination with the Main <br />Street Rehabilitation Project (Project 1757). UPRR agreed to these <br />improvements with the condition that the City share the actual <br />construction costs. The original estimated share prepared by UPRR was <br />$58,301. Improvements are now complete and the actual costs of the <br />improvements were $77,130. Staff recommends this amendment to provide <br />the additional funding for the City's share of the improvements. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Environmental Review No. 2003 - 91 has been completed and a Categorical <br />Exemption has been filed for this project pursuant to the California <br />Environmental Quality Act. <br /> <br />25R-1 <br />
