<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />AUGUST 21, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />bll!Z- <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 sl Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT RENEWAL FOR INMATE <br />MEDICAL SERVICES <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to renew the agreement with Correctional Managed Care <br />Medical Corporation for a one-year period to provide on-site inmate medical <br />care for the Santa Ana Jail in an amount not to exceed $1,110,518. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In October 2004, the City Council approved a one-year agreement with two <br />one-year renewal options with Correctional Managed Care Medical Corporation <br />(CMCMC) to provide on-site medical care for Santa Ana Jail inmates. The <br />agreement provides on-site medical staff 24 hours a day, in addition to a <br />doctor on call. CMCMC conducts daily sick calls, dispenses medication, as <br />well as assists in the intake of incoming inmates to assess for entrance <br />acceptability. Additional services such as dental care, radiology, <br />ophthalmology, OB/Gyn, psychiatric crisis intervention and emergency <br />medical billing services are also included.
