City of Santa Ana <br />Emergency Shelter Grant <br />Scope of Work <br />Name of Organization- Friendship Shelter, Inc. <br />Name of Funded Program- Emergency Shelter <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />I. Total number of unduplicated clients (Santa Ana and Non -Santa Ana Residents) anticipated to be served by <br />the funded program, named above, during the 12 -month contract period. <br />300 PERSONS <br />II. Number of only unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program, named above, <br />during the 12 -month contract period. <br />20 PERSONS <br />Program and Funding Description <br />III. Description of Work — In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12 -month <br />contract period. <br />Friendship Shelter provides emergency shelter for homeless unaccompanied adult men and women; 29 individuals at a time, 300+ in <br />a year. We are able to serve those who are mentally ill, people in recovery from substance abuse and people homeless due to a <br />personal crisis, i.e. illness, loss of work or marital breakup. In addition to receiving clean, safe and comfortable shelter, our residents <br />receive three meals a day, free laundry services, clothing, hygiene items and access to telephones, computers, fax and message <br />service. Each resident must participate in our recovery program designed to provide the new life skills necessary to rebuild one's life <br />and break the cycle of homelessness. <br />All residents participate in our structured and comprehensive rehabilitation Self -Sufficiency Program and must save 80% of their <br />income for appropriate housing. The program provides individual case management, counseling (private and group), career <br />counseling, life skills training, budgeting and financial management workshops, self-esteem workshops, substance abuse recovery <br />support and health and nutrition education. <br />IV. Activities funded by this grant — How will ESG funds be used for the funded program? Narratively <br />describe the budget for the funded program illustrated in Exhibit B and B-1. <br />ESG funds will be used to help fund support staff necessary to operate the Emergency Shelter. These include the Shelter Supervisor, <br />Night Supervisor and Weekend Supervisor.
