City of Santa Ana Community Development Block Grant Scope of Work Name of Organization- Vietnamese Community of Orange County, Inc. Nmne of Funded Program- Southeast Asian Gang Intervention/Prevention Annual Accomplishment Goal I. Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. The Vietnamese Community of Orange County plans to continue our Southeast Asian Youth Gang & Crime Prevention! Intervention Program services to the residents of Santa Ana. The program has been active for over six years with many successful outcome and benefit to the community. This program would include bringing youth counseling services to at-risk and probation youth at local Santa Ana schools, alternative schools, and Orange County juvenile detention camps. The primary goal of the program is to prevent the number of Southeast Asian youth from further gang involvement, to reduce the recidivism rate of SEA repeated incarcerated offenders, and to increase parental understanding and communication with children in the SEA community. Our target populations are low-income Southeast Asian youth age 12 through 18 years old. Each client would receive a minimum of four to eight crime intervention workshops and counseling. The staffs will work with parent educators to assist them in holding workshops for the parents of the at-risk youth. These workshops help parents to understand their child more and the new community and culture that they are in. Our youth counselor will continue to work with the Orange County Probation Department to accept referral for counseling services to youth on probation and with minor offense. IV. Activities funded by this grant - How will CDBG funds be used for the funded program? Narratively describe the budget for the funded program illustrated in Exhibit B and B-1. The grant will be utilized to hire program coordinator/youth counselor. This program coordinator/youth counselor will be incharge daily activities in office and home visitation.
