<br />. <br /> <br />City of Santa Ana <br />Community Development Block Grant <br />Scope of Work <br />Name of Organization- Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana <br />Name of Funded Program- Summer Youth Outreach Program <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />I. Total number of un duplicated clients (Santa Ana and Non-Santa Ana Residents) anticipated to be served by <br />the funded program, named above, during the 12-month contract period. <br />500PERSONS <br /> <br />II. Number of only unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program, named above, <br />during the 12-month contract period. <br />500PERSONS <br /> <br />Program and Funding Description <br />III. Description of Work -In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month <br />contract period. <br />The Summer Youth Oulreach Program will provide a day camp experience for youth oul of school for Ihe summer break. They will <br />have swimming lessons, tennis lessons, computer on-line safety classes, life skills activities that focus on prevention, health and <br />safely, and weekly field trips. For many children it will be the firsllime they've lravelled out ofSanla Ana. <br /> <br />I1 is our goal 10 provide a safe, educalional and fun environmenl for as many youth as possible. Lasl year over 568 youth <br />participaled, Ihis year we expecl over 600, with at leasl 100 new youlh participating. This is a conservalive eslimate considering Ihe <br />densely populaled area we are localed in. <br /> <br />Since 1957, we have been the only organization 10 operale in this community offering our programs for a nominal fee of $2 per <br />month, and "scholarships" 10 those who can'l afford the fee. Our staff is comprised of former members who have gone on to college <br />and come back to work in the community. Many live in Ihis community and are familiar with the families and youlh, providing a <br />positive role model for Ihe neighborhood children, and a sense of hope for Ihe furnre. <br /> <br />IV. Activities funded by this grant - How will CDBG funds be used for the funded program? Narratively <br /> <br />describe the budget for the funded program illustrated in Exhibit B and B-1. <br />The CDBG funds will be used 10 hire Iwo lennis instruclors for the tennis program. The Club in collaboralion with Ihe City of Santa <br />Ana, will ulilize Ihe pool, lifeguards and swim instruclors allhe Sanla Ana High School pool, for which we will be billed <br />approximalely $5,300. We will have 10 charter buses for approximately 4 field trips thai will provide experiences oulside of Orange <br />County. Our Earlybirds program requires part-lime employmenl experience, and we will be able 10 "hire" three Earlybirds to fill thai <br />requirement The purchase of supplies for the weekly activilies such as Compuler Lab, Arts & Crafts, Sports, Health & Safety, and <br />specialty evenls such as Splash into Summer and Weslem Days will come from CDBG funds. Partial salary and benefits for the <br />program manager who is responsible for the design and implementalion, and alllhe oulcome reporting will be billed to CDBG. <br /> <br />Exhibit A <br />Page I of2 <br />
