Award a contract to <br />responsible bidder, <br />alternate one in the <br />Pine Street Sanitary <br /> <br />Simich Construction Company, Inc., the lowest <br />in accordance with unit bid prices and add-on <br />estimated amount of $740,395 for construction of <br />Sewer and Water Main Improvements. <br /> <br />2. Approve a Funding Analysis with a total estimated construction cost <br />of $921,500. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The existing sewer and water mains on Pine Street from Halladay to Minnie <br />Streets and on Standard Avenue from Pine to First Streets were built in <br />the 1920's (Exhibit 1). These mains have exceeded their expected life <br />and are deteriorated and undersized. This project will replace sewer <br />mains, manholes, laterals and sewer cleanouts. Once completed, the sewer <br />improvements will increase the capacity of the sewer system as well as <br />eliminate the maintenance problems associated with older and deteriorated <br />sewer mains. Also, the new water mains will eliminate water main breaks <br />and leaks and enhance water service capacity and fire protection to the <br />surrounding neighborhood. <br /> <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on June 6 and 19, 2006 and bids <br />were opened on July 20, 2006.
