NS-2716 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTION 2-101 <br />OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING <br />TO COUNCIL ORGANIZATION <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. Section 400 of the Santa Ana Charter sets the time for a council <br />member's term to commence following the certification of election <br />results. <br />B. The City Council has proposed that the voters amend Section 400 of <br />the Santa Ana Charter to change the date of the first meeting of the <br />newly elected council to 6:00 pm on the second Tuesday in December, <br />following certification of election results. <br />C. Santa Ana Municipal Code section 2-101 conflicts with the proposed <br />amendment of Charter section 400 regarding the time for convening <br />the newly elected council. <br />Section 2. Santa Ana Municipal Code, Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-101 <br />relating to city council organization, is hereby amended as follows: <br />A. Section 2-101 shall be amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 2-101, Organization. <br />The newly elected council shall convene as set forth in the Santa Ana Charter ea <br />The newly elected council shall proceed to organize, and the newly elected mayor <br />shall immediately become the presiding officer. The council shall thereafter elect a <br />mayor pro tem. <br />In the absence of the mayor and the mayor pro tem the clerk of the council shall <br />call the council to order and call the roll of the members. If a quorum is found to be <br />11 C-1 <br />
