ORDINANCE NO. NS-2717 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING CHAPTER 2, <br />ARTICLE 8 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />RELATING TO CITY MANAGER'S AUTHORITY TO <br />ENTER CONTRACTS <br />Iss061306 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The Section 421 of the Santa Ana Charter provides that the city council <br />may authorize the city manager to bind the city on contracts in an <br />amount not exceeding $10,000.00. <br />B. The City Council has proposed that the voters amend Section 421 of <br />the Santa Ana Charter to authorize the City Council to set, by <br />ordinance, the dollar amount of the City Manager's authority to bind <br />the city on contracts. <br />Section 2. Section 2-801 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code, relating to city <br />manager's authority, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Sec. 2-801. City manager's authority. <br />The city manager is authorized to bind the city to any one written contract <br />for an amount not exceeding the sum of <br />twenty-five thousand dollars ($25 000.00) <br />Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective only upon the <br />approval of the amendment of Santa Ana Charter Section 421 by a majority of <br />the voters of the City of the Santa Ana at the November 7, 2006 general election. <br />ADOPTED this day of , 2006. <br />Miguel A.
