REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 21, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />RENEW AGREEMENT FOR POLICE <br />SERVICE DOG TRAINING AND <br />EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT SERVICES <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Adlerhorst International, <br />Inc. for specialized canine training and equipment replacement services for <br />a one-year period in an amount not to exceed $41,450. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Adlerhorst International, Inc. has been the City's exclusive provider and <br />trainer of police service dogs since 1982. Adlerhorst International, Inc. <br />is a nationally recognized company known for its experience and expertise <br />in the selection, testing, and training of police service dogs. The Police <br />Department currently has five police service dogs that were purchased from <br />and trained by Adlerhorst.
