90.B CITY COUNCIL COIVlMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza requested a status report on the Bristol Street Widening project and <br />thanked the Police Department for an effective effort against cruising on Bristol Street. In <br />response to Espinoza's query regarding homicides in the City, the Police Chief suggested he and <br />Councilmember Espinoza meet to discuss the individual cases. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz requested the Public Works Agency and Police Department look into <br />measures to prevent illegal right-hand turns from the Interstate 5 (1-5) off-ramp to Edgewood <br />Street. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: <br /> <br />- requested the opening of the Templo Calvario Small Wonders Child Care <br /> center for children ages 2-5 be communicated to sta~ <br /> <br />- asked staff to investigate measures to enhance traffic flow on Santa Ana <br /> Boulevard during the construction of the I-5/Penn Way ramps; and <br /> <br />- complimented City staff for their contributions to making the recent visit of <br /> U.S. President Bill Clinton to the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club run smoothly. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan requested staff investigate Pacific Bell's program to offer cities "on- <br />ramps" (connections) to the lnternet (information super highway). She commented that members <br />of the Santa Ana Boys and Girls Club had an opportunity during the recent Clinton visit to <br />observe the "Western White House" in action. <br /> <br />Councilmember Moreno requested a status report on the impacts of the Orange County <br />bankruptcy on the City and suggested the Council consider establishing a citizen advisory board <br />to oversee the City's finances. The Mayor requested the City Manager poll the Council regarding <br />the setting of study session to discuss Councilmember Moreno's suggestion. <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido requested Taco Bell and the Discovery Science Center be invited to make Council <br />presentations regarding their programs for youth. Mayor Pulido complimented Council Services <br />Senior Management Assistant Jill Arthur for her outstanding efforts in coordinating the <br />President's visit to Santa Ana. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 7:02 P.M. <br /> <br />The Brown Act perufits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members of the public <br />present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting. <br />The following items were received for the October 2, 1995 Closed Session. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 285 OCTOBER 2, 1995 <br /> <br /> <br />
