CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Mills requested staffi <br /> <br />- research a trial program in Redwood City to detect gunfire sources, for <br /> possible implementation in Santa Ana; <br /> <br />proceed as rapidly as possible with zone changes in the North Main Street <br />area adjacent to the Interstate-5 freeway; and <br /> <br />- investigate possible sign code violations by the Gonzales Market at Main <br /> and Edinger. <br /> <br />Mills also noted the November 20, 1995 Council Minutes showed Councilmember Moreno had <br />made a motion for a vote at a Council Study Session held in the Library despite Moreno's <br />expressed objection to voting outside of the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza commented that the Council practice of meeting at untelevised study <br />sessions created a public perception that the Council is acting behind "closed doors." <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: <br /> <br />- congratulated the COPS Task Force on the 41% crime reduction in the area <br /> west of the railroad to Flower Street between 1 st and 17th Streets; <br /> <br />reported on his attendance at a briefing on police methods to decrease trafficking <br />in illegal documents and expressed appreciation to those federal agencies <br />combating this crime in Santa Ana; and <br /> <br />requested staff notify neighborhoods and the public of upcoming traffic delays <br />resulting from the McFadden Avenue rehabilitation project between Flower <br />and Main Streets (scheduled to begin February 12, 1996). <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan: <br /> <br />- noted the success of the February 3rd Black History Parade in spite of rain; <br /> <br />- reported the structural crane for the new Federal Courthouse was in place <br /> and encouraged the public to view the project's construction; and <br /> <br />- reiterated her request for staff to investigate the Comcast Cablevision rate <br /> increase imposed without public notification. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MIINUTES 41 FEBRUARY $, 1996 <br /> <br /> <br />
