<br />Lss:08/29106 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-065 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED <br />EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR THE 2006-2007 <br />SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A The California Legislature has established and annually funds the <br />Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). <br /> <br />B. Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities in <br />accordance with specified requirements for front line law enforcement <br />services. <br /> <br />C. The total funding allocation is based on annual estimated population <br />figures for respective counties and cities. In 2005-06 the City of Santa <br />Ana, received an award of $507,457. <br /> <br />D. The potential funding amount for 2006-07 has yet to be authorized through <br />the State budget. The State requires cities and counties to adopt and <br />submit an expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement <br />Oversight Committee prior to funding. <br /> <br />E. The Police Department has established a SLESF expenditure account for <br />the grant funds, and is committed to spend the funds on front-line law <br />enforcement, including personnel and equipment for community policing. <br />These programs include the Gang Suppression Task Force, Cruiser <br />Enforcement and Career Criminal Apprehension Programs. <br /> <br />F. A duly noticed public hearing was held to consider this item at the <br />Council's regular meeting of September 5, 2006. The City Council <br />considered all testimony, written and oral, before rendering this decision. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves and <br />authorizes and empowers the Chief of Police to take all actions necessary to submit the <br />proposed SLESF expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-065 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
