Santa Ana Blvd., Suite 200 <br />Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. de la Riva: <br /> <br />I am responding to the advertised Request For Qualifications (RFQ) for a Career Counselor consultant for <br />the City of Santa Ana, the Santa Ana W /0 /R/K Center (SA WC), and the Santa Ana Workforce <br />Investment Board (SA WIB). As the current Counselor at the SA WC, I am ex-pressing my strong desire to <br />continue to serve the customers and agency in this capacity. I would be honored by your considerate review <br />of my experience, skills, and training that substantiates and exemplifies my qualifications to provide Career <br />Assessment/Counseling and Mental Health Services to the customers at the SA WC who are in the process <br />of becoming reemployed, retrained, or enhancing their career. <br /> <br />I have enjoyed the privilege of serving in the capacity of Career Counselor, also referred to as the \Vellness <br />Coordinator or Counselor, at the \V /O/R/K Center since October 1997. The customer base has been <br />those seeking employment and/ or training at a One-Stop training and employment center (SA \VC), those <br />enrolled in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs (and formerly ]TPA), and individuals enrolled in <br />other related programs, such as those in collaboration with the Department of Social Services work <br />experience and EDD's TRA and TAA programs. Customers include multiethnic, multicultural, and <br />economically disadvantaged populations. This role began with the primary responsibility of helping <br />people in need of and who desired Personal Counseling as they psychologically struggled with their <br />unemployment status. Over the years, my responsibility expanded to include Career Counseling, <br />Vocational Assessment, and Pre-employment Skills Testing. In implementing these functions, I regularly <br />consult with appropriate Center staff when necessary or helpful, with customer consent, to coordinate <br />services and optimize success. <br /> <br />Additional relevant experience that eminently qualifies me for this position includes six-years of Vocational <br />Counseling and Assessment for two community college districts; community college Matriculation <br />Counseling for three years; and 17 years of providing Mental Health Senices in various roles including <br />direct care, social work, private practice and consultation, and employee assistance; and one year of JTPA <br />case management. <br /> <br />Educationally, I have earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, master's degree in counseling, completion <br />of a four-year post-graduate training program, and have completed and, on an ongoing basis, continue to <br />
