NO. 06-119) <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Proforce Law Enforcement for the purchase of 35 Glock <br />guns in the amount of $23,712. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department currently utilizes Glock-manufactured <br />weapons as standard issue side arms to allow for standardization in <br />training. The standardization also allows for ammunition magazine <br />interchangeability between officers. The recommended action will allow for <br />replenishment of inventory and for issuance of a new weapon to academy <br />recruits. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised July 21 and 24, 2006, and bids were <br />solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />7 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />3 Invitations For Bid received <br /> <br />Bids were received and opened July 31, 2006 (Exhibit 1). The bid received <br />from Proforce Law Enforcement is responsive to the specification and meets <br />the Police Department's requirements. The award amount includes a <br />contingency to facilitate the purchase of additional miscellaneous supplies <br />and accessories on an as-needed basis. <br /> <br />22H-1 <br />
