NO. 06-136) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />f2.me <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Wondries Fleet Group, under the Cooperative Purchase <br />provision of Los Angeles County, for the purchase of 16 police patrol <br />sedans in the amount of $390,708.97. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division maintains a replacement schedule for police <br />patrol type vehicles that have accumulated at least 70,000 miles. The <br />vehicles operate a minimum of 8 -12 hours per day, often double shifts, <br />under City conditions. As a result, each vehicle is evaluated based on <br />age, mileage, and increased downtime. Additionally, the Fleet Division <br />reviews the acquisition in accordance with the City's Hybrid and <br />Alternative Fuel Vehicle Acquisition Policy. Currently, hybrid vehicles <br />are not available in the Full-size/Large class category that includes the <br />Ford Crown Victoria sedan. <br /> <br />Sixteen patrol vehicles between the years of 1994 to 1999 have been <br />identified and approved for replacement for fiscal year 2006-2007. Twelve <br />are assigned as patrol vehicles, three as non-patrol units with no light <br />bar and one unit is assigned to the Parks Security Patrol Division of the <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase <br />against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid <br />process. The City of Los Angeles' contract with Wondries Fleet Group for <br />police patrol sedans was awarded as a result of open, competitive bidding, <br />and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />22K-1 <br />
