<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 18, 2006 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT AMENDMENT FOR SALSA <br />LEISURE CLASS INSTRUCTOR <br /> <br />Qu;02~ <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with Salomon <br />Rivera for dance instruction, increasing the agreement amount by $15,000 <br />and extending the term six months, for a total aggregate amount not to <br />exceed $25,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency offers low-cost <br />courses and acti vi ties to Santa Ana residents in the areas of music and <br />dance, arts, nature and science, equestrian and aquatics, sports, and <br />other special interests. The semi-annual Leisure Services Program <br />brochure has been instrumental in increasing the number of students <br />registering for many classes. <br /> <br />As a result of this success, an additional beginning Salsa course has been <br />added to accommodate community demand.
