NO. 05-084) <br />.-- <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Amend the contract with Players Choice for the purchase of trophies, <br />plaques and awards for a two-year period by $15,000 for an annual amount <br />not to exceed $45,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency's sports and youth <br />guidance programs require trophies, medals, and plaque awards to <br />recognize participants for their achievements in soccer, basketball, <br />baseball, flag football, track and field, swimming, and Project <br />P.R.I.D.E. In addition, various other agencies require plaque awards to <br />recognize outstanding employees and citizens of the community. The <br />contract for trophies, plaques, and awards is designed to provide quality <br />products at significant savings based on quantity pricing. <br />On November 7, 2005, the City Council awarded a contract to Players <br />Choice, a Santa Ana vendor, for trophies, plaques and awards. Players <br />Choice has provided quality products to the City for the past six years <br />at competitive pricing. Due to the number of programs and level of <br />participation, staff is projecting an increase in the purchase of <br />trophies, plaques and awards. The recommended action provides the <br />necessary funding for the remainder of the contract. <br />220-1 <br />
