NO. 06-146) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />CI Y MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Coastline Equipment, under the Cooperative Purchase <br />provision of the City of Los Angeles, for the purchase of one backhoe <br />loader tractor in the amount of $85,548.11 i and increase the aggregate <br />limit for miscellaneous equipment parts and repairs in an amount not to <br />exceed $20,000 annually. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program is <br />included in the City's annual budget and identifies vehicles scheduled for <br />replacement. Funding lS monitored through a depreciation schedule <br />established with each department. Additionally, the Fleet Division reviews <br />the acquisition in accordance with the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel <br />Vehicle Acquisition Policy. Currently, hybrid vehicles are not available in <br />the heavy-duty tractor category. <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Maintenance Division has been charged with <br />replacing water valves, fire hydrants and water services within the City. <br />Due to its age, worn condition and engine hours, a 1996 John Deere backhoe <br />has been approved for replacement in the current fiscal year. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase <br />against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid <br />process. The City of Los Angeles contract with Coastline Equipment for a <br />John Deere backhoe loader tractor was awarded as a result of open, <br />competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />Coastline Equipment provides miscellaneous equipment parts and repairs as <br />required. The purchase of the backhoe loader tractor, when combined with <br />the previous purchases by Fleet Services during the current fiscal year <br />exceeds the $10,000 aggregate limit. In order to facilitate future <br />purchases, staff recommends an increase to the aggregate amount. <br /> <br />22J-1 <br />
