<br />Us/9/22/06) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2006-070 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A <br />GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000,000 <br />FOR THE CALIFORNIA RIVER PARKWAYS GRANT <br />PROGRAM FOR THE SANTA ANA RIVER <br />ENHANCEMENT PROJECT <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The California River Parkways Grant Program was established under the <br />Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act <br />of 2002. <br /> <br />1. The program provides funds for recreational acquisition, <br />restoration, protection and development of river parkways. <br /> <br />2. Approximately $32.5 million is available to fund projects during this <br />grant cycle. <br /> <br />3. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency is <br />requesting authorization to submit a grant application in the amount <br />of $1,000,000 for the enhancement of the five sites identified in the <br />Santa Ana River Vision Plan. <br /> <br />4. The sites to be improved as part of this project are: Edna Park, 17th <br />Street Triangle, Fairview Triangle, McFadden Triangle, and Edinger <br />Equestrian area. <br /> <br />5. The proposed project will improve the sites by installing native <br />landscaping, irrigation, and trail amenities such as bike racks, <br />natural seating areas, and interpretive signage. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby adopts this resolution authorizing the <br />submittal of a grant application in the amount of $1,000,000 for the California River <br />Parkways Grant program for the Santa Ana River Enhancement Project. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-070 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
