Provide multiple work and educational experiences that will allow corpsmembers <br />to seek a variety of career and educational choices and opportunities post-OCCC; <br />. Provide paid work experience, trainings, and certificates to develop and/or <br />improve their resumes for future employment; <br />. Develop and maintain a portfolio that highlights their work/school/credential <br />accomplishments to use in seeking employment post-OCCC; <br />. Corpsmembers will complete high school credits to earn a high school diploma <br />through the OCCC Charter School; <br />. Corpsmembers will improve basic skills and improve at least at least two grade <br />levels on standardized tests (STAR or T ABE tests); <br />. Corpsmembers will practice and prepare to pass the CA High School Exit Exam; <br />. Corpsmembers may earn scholarships for post-secondary instruction; <br />. Corpsmembers will develop leadership skills through various crew based and <br />individual trainings; <br />. Corpsmembers will transition successfully from the OCCC into employment <br />and/or post-secondary instruction; <br />. Corpsmembers will complete work projects that benefit our local communities <br />and instill a sense of community service and pride in their communities. <br /> <br />Whal is Ihe lenf!lh of/he vrof!ram? <br />The OCCC is an open entry, open exit program Therefore youth may be recruited and <br />enter the program at any time. Youth may exit the program at anytime based on <br />individual needs, accomplishments, and abilities. Youth may work for the OCCC for a <br />maximum of 24 months as long as they receive satisfactory work/school evaluations and <br />are making progress towards completing individual work and education goals. <br /> <br />All program components are ongoing and available on a year round basis. Specialized <br />trainings and workshops are offered quarterly. Therefore a youth who stays with the <br />OCCC for six months will be able to participate in the full array of services and programs <br />offered by the OCCc. <br /> <br />How 0 ten will/he HIlA arlici ani need 10 oltend Ihe roaram? doilv/weeklv/monlhll <br />WIA participants will attend the program daily, five days a week. All OCCC <br />corpsmembers including WIA participants are scheduled for 40 hours of work/school <br />each week; 32 hours of paid work experience and 8 hours unpaid of education/class time. <br />Corpsmembers are scheduled to work 8 hours a day Monday - Thursday. OCCC charter <br />school classes are scheduled daily for one hour after work Monday - Thursday and for <br />four hours on Friday. Week-end and evening activities and events are scheduled as <br />needed and appropriate and include a variety of opportunities to volunteer and/or work in <br />the community. <br /> <br />What is Ihe fi.eQuencv ofslaffinleraclion wilh Ihe vorlicivant? <br />Various OCCC staff members meet daily with corpsmembers to deliver OCCC program <br />components.
