Battin <br /> <br />Supervisal, First District <br /> <br />SUBJECT: News Release <br /> <br />L <br />;;:r>, _ <br /> <br />For Release Mond~y, April 161 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Northwest Santa Ana Hill soon have a Santa Ana River "greenbelt" <br /> <br />park thanks to a recent agreement between the Orange County Flood Control <br /> <br />District and the City of Santa Ana, it is announced by Robert W. Battin, <br /> <br />Supervisor, First District and Jerry Patterson, newly elected Mayo~ of <br /> <br />Santa Ana. <br /> <br />A ceremony oarking conclusion of the agreement took place on April <br /> <br />16 'tvhen Battin, representing the Board of Supervisors, fomally presented <br /> <br />a copy of the agree~ent to the Mayor and City Council of Santa Ana. Alsu <br /> <br />participating in the event was H. C. Osborne Chief Engineer of the Flood <br /> <br />Control District. <br /> <br />Consisting of 2.5 acres on Edna Drive adjacent to the Santa Ana River, <br /> <br />the park site is to be developed by the City as a restful neighborhood <br /> <br />picknicking and playground area. Included will be a recreation building <br /> <br />and an esquestrian and bicycle trail stop (see attached sketch). A <br /> <br />special feature will be a paved walkway-bikeHay connecting the park with <br /> <br />existing Alana Park on the east side of the river where additional facil- <br /> <br />ities, including active sports, are available. <br /> <br />Hayor Patterson points out that the ne~v fa.;ility will be the 'Jnly <br /> <br />park in Santa Ana north of 17th Street, west of the river; therefore, it <br />
