<br />Contract Award for Police Motorcycles <br />October 16, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />The notice inviting <br />bids were solicited. <br />as follows: <br /> <br />bids was advertised on September 15 and 18, 2006, and <br />A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is <br /> <br />8 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />4 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on September 26, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1) . The bid from Long Beach BMW is responsive to the specifications and <br />meets the City's requirements. The bid for six motorcycles was issued prior <br />to the City's acceptance of the STEP Grant award. As such, Long Beach BMW <br />has agreed to extend the same price and terms for the additional five grant <br />funded motorcycles. <br /> <br />Long Beach BMW provides motorcycle parts and repairs as requested. The <br />purchase of the 11 BMW motorcycles when combined with the previous <br />purchases by Fleet Services during the current fiscal year, exceeds the <br />$10,000 aggregate limit. In order to facilitate future purchases, staff <br />recommends an increase to the aggregate amount. <br /> <br />FISCAL. IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds are available in the Equipment Replacement Machinery & Equipment <br />account (account no. 76-145-6641) for $111,549.53; and Office of Safety <br />Grant Traffic Offender Program Grant Machinery & Equipment account <br />(account no. 165-336-6641) for $22,309.91, and the Selective Traffic <br />Enforcement Grant Machinery & Equipment account (account no.165-343-6641) <br />for $111,549.53; and Equipment Maintenance Garage Operation Material & <br />Supplies account (account no. 75-111-6391) in the amount of $10,000. <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br /> <br />( .) \ 1'\ <br />'- t--u.l \J..U- <br /> <br />Paul N.
