<br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />OCTOBER 16, 2006 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 ,\ Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2"' Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AWARD CONTRACT TO XONOVIA TECHNOLOGIES <br />LLC FOR CONSULTING SERVICES TO CONDUCT <br />AN ASSESSMENT OF THE CITY'S INFORMATION <br />TECHNOLOGY FRASTRUCTURE <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Xonovia <br />Technologies LLC (Xonovia) for consulting services to conduct an <br />assessment of the current information technology infrastructure, security <br />processes, disaster preparedness and organizational structure in a total <br />aggregate amount not to exceed $175,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Staff has determined an assessment of the City's information technology's <br />infrastructure needs to be conducted in order to address long term <br />information technology disaster plan requirements; increased demands for <br />information technology services, and the continued growth of the network <br />and application environment. The assessment will provide staff a baseline <br />of current resources and provide solutions to addressing long term City <br />demands and changing technology. The objective is to ensure proper <br />network and organizational structure, as well as implementing a secure <br />disaster/emergency recovery plan. <br /> <br />Xonovia Technologies LLC has been selected to conduct the assessment <br />based on the firm's experience and expertise in the industry. The firm's <br />staff has conducted needs assessments and security validation tests for <br />municipalities and has developed networks that have met the Department of <br />Justice security requirements for public safety. The assessment that will <br />be conducted will cover core network and network security; servers and <br />server security; disaster plans and recovery; and organizational <br />structure. Xonovia will provide a written report of the assessment <br />performed that will include observations/findings, <br />recommendations/solutions to correct any issues and mitigate risks; <br />suggested organizational structure improvements and improvements to the <br />disaster plans. <br /> <br />25M-1 <br />
