REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 16, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREENENT WITH CONNUNICATh <br />SIIPPORT GROVP FOR CABLE TV <br />CONSULTING SERVICES <br />l/~^---~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />As Recommended <br />As Amended <br />Ordinance on 1s~ Reading <br />Ordinance on 2ntl Reading <br />Implementing Resolution <br />Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Communications Support <br />Group to provide cable television franchise consulting services for a one- <br />year period in an amount not to exceed $85,870. <br />DISCUSSION <br />For the past seventeen years, the City of Santa Ana has contracted with <br />Communications Support Group for cable television franchise consulting <br />services. Communications Support Group will continue to provide its <br />standard scope of services, including technical support to cable <br />programming, customer service, and franchise compliance and administration. <br />In addition, the annual comprehensive technical FCC performance test of the <br />subscriber cable systems will be performed and the annual cable regulatory <br />report will be prepared documenting overall cable company activity and <br />performance. <br />Communications Support Group will continue to maintain the community <br />bulletin board and monitor the transition plan to continue programming <br />services on Channel 3. The consultant will continue the coordination of the <br />upgrade to the City Council Chamber audio/visual equipment. The Parks, <br />Recreation and Community Services Agency is satisfied with the quality of <br />services that Community Support Group has provided and recommends approval <br />of the recommended action. <br />25D-1 <br />
