REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />October 16, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />BIENNIAL REVIEW OF CITY'S <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE <br />CI NAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution amending the Conflict of Interest Codes of City Agencies <br />and Departments. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The California State Government Code specifies-that local agencies must <br />review their Conflict of Interest Codes each even-numbered year. Changes <br />to the codes must be adopted by the City Council as the code reviewing body <br />for City agencies and Departments. <br />Pursuant to State requirements, we have reviewed the city's position <br />classifications required to be designated in the Conflict of Interest Code. <br />The City's Code has been revised to include new positions added since the <br />last code review, and to delete positions that have been eliminated or <br />whose duties do not include making or participating in making governmental <br />decisions. <br />The disclosure categories specifying financial interests including <br />investments, interests in real property, income, and business positions <br />have also been revised to more accurately reflect what each designated <br />position must disclose. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />T/here~is no fiscal 'mpact associated with this action. <br />'v ~tl~-vec.4J <br />Patricia E.
