<br />is the highly regarded Parenting Skills Workshop Series3, Some of the topics that <br /> <br />will be covered in this curriculum are: <br /> <br />. EncouraQement - Fosters self-esteem and builds trust between parent <br />and child; <br />. Can-Do - A guidance technique that teaches parents to teach children <br />the types of behaviors that are acceptable; <br />. Choices - Builds on these skills be encouraging young parents to work <br />together with their partners to solve problems and make decisions for the <br />good of the child; <br /> <br />. Self-Control - An anger management skill for teen and young adult <br />parents; and <br />. RespectinQ FeelinQs - An empathy-building skill. <br /> <br />These skills become routine through the structured leadership process, <br /> <br />Task 6: Mentoring and Other Services <br />Most youth will complete the program and reenter the precise social- <br />economic environment that initially served as an incubator for their <br />"dysfunctional" behavior. Thus, cognitive change is needed so that the youth, <br />confronted with choice, will alter the direction of his/her decision-making and <br />behavior, The mentorship program is designed to achieve such an outcome, In <br />addition, the leadership development component will emphasize the importance <br />of "giving back" to the community by planning and implementing Community <br />Service projects such as Neighborhood Clean-up, Graffiti Removal, Mural <br />Painting, etc, Moreover, the youth and their families will need support negotiating <br />relationships with the labor market and other institutions so that needed services <br />can be accessed, Last, the youth will be monitored and guided along a new <br />behavioral trajectory, In order to facilitate these outcomes and accomplish <br />successful completion of WIA goals as well as objectives developed in each <br />youth's case plan, the serVices outlined below will be provided. <br /> <br />, Comprehensive assessment of the youth's mental, emotional, social, <br />health, academic, and other needs - Utilizing structured assessment <br />tools, interviews with the youth's family and schools, observational data <br />gathered by the counselors, and self-reported information, CHCADA's <br />staff will provide a Case Plan.
