of intake, be enrolled in required counseling or in an appropriately
selected educations institution and/or training program and will begin the
pursuit of an appropriate career.

CHCADA will ensure that each youth has a work wardrobe (or uniform)
that is clean, neat and current so that they will not be subjected to the
ridicule of their peers. The staff will also meet with each of the youth's
employers to encourage them to adopt a welcoming attitude toward all
FUERZAS UNIDAS participants. In addition, individual and group sessions
will address job retention skills.

Follow-up to ensure continued individual and WIA performance:

Immediate Follow-Up: Because the first day on the job or back in school
can be a defining moment for the youth, the Counselor will schedule a
meeting with the youth immediately after the day has ended. The
Counselor, in a one-on-one session, will seek to determine the youth's
affective and experiential responses to the very important first dav.
FUERZAS UNIDAS will also, through La Familia's Youth Prevention Network,
attempt to identify at least two cross-age mentors so that the youth will not
feel awkward and/or excluded.

Onqoinq Follow-up - The counselor will meet with the placed youth at
least once more during the first week. However, contact will be made by
phone daily during this period. Contact will also be made with the youth
and his/her employers by phone at least weekly during the entire program.
During the first two weeks after the youth's entry into the labor market or
school, CHCADA will work diligently to ensure that the participant "catches
up" vocationally or academically, does not "fall behind" and has access to
support when problems emerge. This intensive follow-up will continue for
12 months after placement.

>> Referrals and Supportive Services - CHCADA's comprehensive
services and provider database will allow us to match youth with the
health, mental health, literacy, anger management, domestic violence,
parenting, gang intervention, and/or other services needed by the youth.
As mentioned, supportive services provided by the FUERZAS UNIDAS
program include, but are not limited to:
.:. School books;
'.' School supplies;
':. Work clothing (uniforms);
.:. Bus passes;
.:. Emergency food (up to $50 if homeless);

28
