<br />TSJ are nlso generated through the school system, churches, community organizations, and the <br />probation dep811ment. <br /> <br />Although the TSJ program offers all lO WJA Elements/Services, youth taking pan in job-training <br />and work experience tlu'ougb TSJ will receive services concentrating on WIA Elements 2- 1 O. <br />Youth who meet tbe minimum requirements for enrollment will take p81i in an interview and <br />assessment pnor to taking pm1 in job-trnining at TSJ. Tbe T ABE assessment test will be used to <br />identify basic skill deficiencles of eacb student. Program components are adjusted to meet the <br />youth basic skills needs as detem1ined by the assessment. Enrollment activities begin one montb <br />prim' to the course stan date. Tim is followed by 15-22 weeks of mtensive job-training. Youth <br />who successfully complete their job-training receive celiification proving proficiency in the <br />training program in whicb tbey pmiicipated. Cenification is given by industry based and <br />accredited organizations. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />As an organization, TSJ is distinguisbed by program refinement and continuous improvement. <br />TSJ uses an established evaluation method including: client surveys, focus groups, and <br />feedback collected during mentoring sessions to address client concerns. TSJ program staff <br />meets bi-monthly to discuss and refine exisiting programs and services. <br /> <br />Program Description <br />Taller San Jose is positioned to serve the older out-of-scbool youth (18-21) population through <br />an mtensificatlon of its present program with an emphasis on recruitment, assessment, training, <br />case management, educational oppoI1Unities, suppon and employment services. Eligible youth <br />have the oppoI1Unity to panicipate in highly focused training in construction, information <br />teclmo]ogy, and medical careers. <br /> <br />The training model for each of the vocational program at TSJ focuses on three key areas: Hard <br />Skills Development - work experience, Employability Development - job preparation, and Life <br />Skills Development - on-going personal development.
