COMMENTS <br /> <br />90.A. <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />On behalf of "Project Safe Baby" Chair Bradley Harmer, Councilmember McGuigan showed an <br />original Thomas Kincaid painting as one of several donated items to be auctioned on June 6 at <br />6:00 p.m. at the Santa Aha Southwest Senior Center to raise funds to purchase baby car seats for <br />low-income families. <br /> <br />George Estrada urged the Council and residents to support Immigration & Naturalization Service <br />efforts to promptly deport illegal aliens who commit crimes, and opined that Congressional <br />representatives, not City officials, should be advocating for Santa Ana's share of federal dollars. <br /> <br />James Kendrick opined the renovation of the West Coast Theatre building on Main Street had <br />defaced this historical structure and urged the Council and staffto guard against the loss of other <br />City landmarks. <br /> <br />Florence Leach invited the Council and the listening audience to the Tri-City (Santa Ana-Orange- <br />Tustin) Memorial Day celebration to be held on May 26, 1997 at the Santa Ana Cemetery starting <br />at 10:00 a.m. <br /> <br />90.B. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Moreno's queries: <br /> <br />City Attorney Joseph Fletcher indicated staff will provide its findings <br />regarding the feasibility of a "shopping cart" ordinance by June 2, 1997; <br />and <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido suggested staff prepare a report on the legality of a neighborhood <br />association receiving money from a developer to pay for infrastructure <br />improvements and other mitigation measures. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza: <br /> <br />reported presenting a Key to the City to Father Al and Father Christopher <br />of St. Joseph's Church and members of the Franciscan clergy who organized <br />the "Virgin of Zapopa's" recent visit to Santa Aha, and thanked the Police <br />Department for its excellent work on managing traffic for the event; and <br /> <br />related his participation at a recent Santa Clara Day Nursery event at the <br />Alberto Salgado Community Center and commended the Recreation & <br />Community Services staff and the Nursery nuns, parents, and children for a <br />job well done. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 163 MAY 19, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
