Mayor Pulido: <br /> <br />reported the City had received a $105,000 grant from the U.S. <br />Department of Justice for a Community Oriented Policing (COPS) <br />Loitering and Public Disorder Reduction Program to be implemented <br />by the City in collaboration with the French Court, French Park <br />neighborhoods, St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Wdlard Intermediate <br />School, Garfield Elementary School, and Saint Joseph's Catholic Church; <br /> <br />- thanked Police Chief Paul Walters and Washington-based COPS Director <br /> Joe Brann for their successful efforts in securing Program funding; and <br /> <br />- commended the neighborhood associations and all those who participated in <br /> the community workshops which launched the Disorder Reduction Program. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Brown Act permits the City Council to discuss certain matters without members of the public <br />present, provided the items to be discussed are posted 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting. <br />The following items were received for the May 19, 1997 Council meeting. <br /> <br />95.A. <br /> <br />CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - EXISTiNG LITIGATION pursuant <br />to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) <br /> <br />Shamier-Ford v.
