- expressed appreciation to Santa Ana residents who attended the recent "Promise <br /> Keepers" rally in Washington, D.C. <br /> <br />Councilmember Espinoza requested Council formally consider installing American flags on major <br />streets and suggested staff explore possible revenue and/or donor sources to offset flag purchase <br />costs. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Richardson: <br /> <br />reported his attendance at a recognition dinner for former Councilmember and <br />Mayor Lorin Griset where Griset was commended for 57 years of service to the <br />Christian Businessmen's Committee; <br /> <br />noted the Library History Room would soon celebrate its 20th anniversary of <br />operation, indicated Library Assistant Ann Harder had undertaken a massive <br />project to assemble a pictorial history of Santa Ana's families and businesses, and <br />encouraged residents to send pictures and/or call 647-5280 for information; <br /> <br />commented that several prol2erties on South Bristol slated for demolition under <br />the Bristol Street widening project had been "burned" as part of a fire training <br />program and thanked City staff who had assisted in clearing the properties; and <br /> <br />- suggested those interested in making donations to the Santa Ana Boys and Girls <br /> Club 4th Annual "Castle of Dreams" fundraiser on November 1 contact the Club. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan reported the Discovery Museum had conducted a very enjoyable and <br />successful fundraiser on October 3 and commented that the "burns" on South Bristol were <br />conducted in cooperation with the Costa Mesa Fire Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lutz: <br /> <br />- requested staff enforce "NO" parking on vacant dirt lots in the Willard <br /> Neighborhood, explore the feasibility of fencing the lots, and provide updates to <br /> him and Councilmember Brett Franklin; and <br /> <br />- reported on an upcoming "Victorian" fund raiser event at the Dr. Howe-Waffle <br /> House where a number of antique collectors would display their collections and <br /> noted information and/or tickets could be obtained by calling 547-9645. <br /> <br />Councilmember Brett Franklin: <br /> <br />- congratulated the Morrison Park and Delhi neighborhoods on recent successful <br /> community events, <br /> <br />- expressed appreciation to PacBell for assisting with the Delhi Fall Festival; <br />- thanked the Sierra Elementary School Principal for working with adjacent <br /> neighbors to prevent any problems caused by students walking to the School; <br /> <br />CITY COIJNCIL MINUTES 293 OCTOBER 6, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />
