NO. 06-065) <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Amend the contract with Foam <br />aggregate limit by $20,000 for <br />amount not to exceed $91,500. <br /> <br />Experts Roofing, <br />the reroof ing of <br /> <br />Inc. <br />Fire <br /> <br />to increase the <br />Station 9 for an <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The roof of Fire Station 9 has been evaluated and is recommended for <br />replacement. The existing roof is approximately 16 years old and no longer <br />cost-effective to repair and maintain. The foam roofing system proposed is <br />comprised of a seamless layer of rigid polyurethane foam covered with two <br />coats of protective silicone rubber. The completed system provides a <br />durable and effective insulation with superior protection against all <br />weather conditions. The replacement roof will include a 25-year warranty <br />and, if properly maintained, provide a longer life. <br /> <br />On June 19, 2006, Council awarded a contract to Foam Experts Roofing, Inc. <br />for the reroofing of the Southwest Senior Center. Because Foams Experts <br />Roofing, Inc. provided the lowest responsive bid and completed the work to <br />staff's satisfaction, staff believes an additional solicitation for bids <br />would be an idle act and recommends approval.
