CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Horizon Mechanical for the purchase of a swimming pool <br />heater in the amount of $20,766. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City operates 5 swimming pools throughout the City and offers various <br />programs to children and adults. A senior aquatics program, consisting of <br />therapeutic exercise classes, is held at the Salgado pool. The pool heater <br />is no longer functioning properly, and as a result, is in need of <br />replacement. The senior aquatics program will temporarily be relocated to <br />the Memorial Park pool. Once the pool heater is replaced, the senior <br />aquatics program will resume at the Salgado Park pool. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on September 25 and 27, 2006, and <br />bids were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is <br />as follows: <br /> <br />22 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />5 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />3 Bids received <br />1 Bid received from a Santa Ana vendor <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on October 11, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). <br />The bid received from Horizon Mechanical is responsive to the specification <br />and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />22F-1 <br />
