<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 20, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH <br />DEKRA-LITE FOR LIGHTING AT THE <br />DEPOT <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br /><--,Jtr~~~ <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement with <br />Dekra-Lite in an amount not to exceed $22,000 for lighting at The Depot. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Depot at Santa Ana is a regional transportation hub, combining <br />Amtrak, MetroLink, Orange County Transit Authority and other bus <br />services with office space for various State, County, and City <br />departments. Patronage at the facility has escalated in recent years to <br />over one million persons serviced annually. <br /> <br />Staff is implementing a marketing and facility improvement plan for The <br />Depot to help promote the City and the facility to the varied customers <br />visi ting on a daily basis. One component of the plan is to install up <br />lights on the palm trees in the courtyard and twinkle lights on the <br />ornamental rod iron archway that the customers walk through when <br />entering The Depot from the train. The City currently has a contract <br />with Dekra-Lite in the amount of $8,900 to install the holiday <br />decorations in the Downtown. The additional cost to install the <br />lighting at The Depot is $13,100, which would bring the total contract <br />amount to $22,000. <br /> <br />Based on the quality and performance of past projects, Dekra-Lite is <br />recommended to perform this work at The Depot. <br /> <br />255-1 <br />
