WORK STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />W.S.A. GENERAL PLAN UPDATE REVIEW <br /> <br />Planning and Building Executive Director Robyn Uptegraff reviewed the Circulation and Land <br />Use Elements of the General Plan scheduled for public hearing at the February 2, 1998 Council <br />Meeting. <br /> <br />Uptegraffpointed out that no concerns regarding the Circulation Element had been expressed at <br />the Planning Commission hearing and noted the proposed element with its goals and policies <br />reiterated "what is already on the books." <br /> <br />She indicated the Land Use Element had received more public testimony, and reviewed the <br />following four areas which had emerged as the focus of discussion at the Planning Commission: <br /> <br />East First Street - change designation from Professional Office and Administrative <br />Office to General Commercial <br /> <br />French Court Neighborhood - change designation from Medium Density Residential <br />to Low Density Residential <br /> <br />East Fifth Street - maintenance of current Medium Density Residential designation <br />and request to redesignate the south side of East 5"' Street between Mortimer 8: <br />Lacy to General Commercial <br /> <br />Logan Neighborhood - maintenance of the current Residential/Industrial designation <br />and establishment of a Logan Area Task Force to explore zoning alternatives <br /> <br />Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Chuck Mabry expressed the view that the mixed use <br />designation in the Logan neighborhood is difficult for residents, expressed concern about the <br />future of the Logan area, and recommended the Institute of Conflict Management to assist with <br />resolution of resident and business owner issues. <br /> <br />Patrick Mufioz representing Ware Disposal expressed support for continuing the mixed use <br />zoning of the Logan area and opined industrial uses were more realistic for the area. <br /> <br />W.S.B. MAIN STREET STREETSCAPE PLAN <br /> <br />Community Development Agency Redevelopment Project Manager Vicki Uehli recognized <br />Streetscape Task Force members Project Manager Susan Helper, Associate Engineer David <br />Niknafs and Associate Planner Larry Yenglin.
