DISCUSSION The State of California provides grant funding to state law enforcement agencies through the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). This grant requires that funding be allocated to counties and cities in accordance with specific requirements for front-line law enforcement services. Front-line law enforcement typically includes community oriented policing projects and special law enforcement activities that require use of additional police officers in specially targeted saturation areas.
